The „Eat & Pray with the Monk Phuket“ experience offers visitors a rare and deeply moving opportunity to step beyond the beaches and truly connect with the spiritual heart of Thailand. This is more than just a tour—it is a participation in the ancient, daily rituals that form the foundation of Thai culture and the Buddhist faith.
The Sacred Alms Giving (Tak Bat)
The experience traditionally begins at dawn with Tak Bat (alms giving). As the first light touches the temple, the revered monks emerge and silently walk a designated route, carrying their alms bowls. Following your knowledgeable guide, you will respectfully prepare and offer food, sticky rice, and other essentials directly into the monk’s bowl. This act of giving (Dana) is one of the most significant practices in Theravada Buddhism, representing merit-making and the reciprocal relationship between the lay community and the Sangha (monastic order).
Morning Rituals and Blessings
After the alms procession, the journey continues within the temple grounds, often at a significant site like Wat Chalong. You will be invited to participate in the morning prayers and meditation rituals. A key moment is receiving a blessing from the monk, where sacred water is often sprinkled and a meaningful chant is recited, imparting good fortune and protection (Sawasdee Mongkol) for your travels and life. Many tours also include a session for Siamsi (traditional fortune telling) or an informal „Monk Chat,“ providing a space to ask questions and learn about Buddhist philosophy directly from the monastic community.

Airport transfers are not included in the price of this tour, however you can book for an arrival transfer in advance. In this case a tour operator representative will be at the airport to greet you. To arrange this please contact our customer service team once you have a confirmed booking.
Day 1 of this tour is an arrivals day, which gives you a chance to settle into your hotel and explore Los Angeles. The only planned activity for this day is an evening welcome meeting at 7pm, where you can get to know your guides and fellow travellers. Please be aware that the meeting point is subject to change until your final documents are released.
Your tour will conclude in San Francisco on Day 8 of the trip. There are no activities planned for this day so you're free to depart at any time. We highly recommend booking post-accommodation to give yourself time to fully experience the wonders of this iconic city!
